Yeah… I’m slacking! - More playing with camera.

Published by Icequeen under Photography, The Offspring

You’d think somebody who is just laying around healing up would have plenty of time to sit on the computer and babble babble babble.  I do spend most of my day sitting on the computer, but not so much time babbling… so I guess I’ll just have to admit that I’ve been a slacker.

Since I don’t particularly have much in my life to babble about at this very second, I’ll put up some pictures we took over the last week or so.   All of these are straight out of the camera.   I can’t wait until I’m actually out of my recliner more often and at my desk so I can photo shop these a bit (that is after I learn HOW to photo shop them ;) )

I just love the mountains at sunset!

But a zoom lens sure would make these pictures ROCK

Did I mention I love sunsets????

I’d like to photo shop the power line out… and zoom in a mile or so.  Did I mention zoom would be cool?

Okay… enough about mountains and sunsets and zoom.   I’ll move onto the spawn.  She goes to preschool 3 days a week.  One of the daily activities in preschool is 1/2 hour of gymnastics every day.  A GREAT thing for kids in Alaska…. who get stuck indoors way too much!  They were particularly good this day, so they got free time.

This is Em’s best friend Grace (I giggle at this since Em’s middle name is Grace).  Grace is a diva… Grace loves the camera.  I probably shouldn’t admit that I have 10 times more pictures of Grace from this day, because… well…. she likes the camera :)

And of course, the spawn…. trying to run without falling down.  I love my child more than life itself… but she is as coordinated as a slug.

Speaking of coordinated… let me show you!  This was what happened when Em ran into the wall.  The wall is the same wall it’s always been.  It’s in the same place in the house it’s always been.  But Em, is Em… and I love her!

See that knot on her forehead???

She was quite proud!

That’s my girl.  I love her.

OH, and I almost forgot to show you.  We had a rainstorm come through last week, followed by 20 below weather right behind it.  THIS is what happens when you have that combination.  This is the PARKING LOT to the lake, where everyone ice skates in the winter.   People have opted to skip the lake and have been literally skating in the parking lot instead.

And last by not least…. here are the trees right outside the house.  I just LOVE this picture.  The colors are sooooo amazing!  and this is STRAIGHT from the camera!  Who knew!!!

Okay, so that is it.  Have I redeemed myself for my days of absence?  Does anybody care??  Is this thing on??? HELLO???

Alrighty then.

The doggies have a birthday

Published by Icequeen under The Offspring, pets

Em is all about birthday parties.  She LOVES her some birthday party… so imagine her utter delight when February rolled around and she acknowledged that all 3 dogs have February birthdays!  She thought she had hit the motherload!

Now… I try to be a cool mom.  I try to indulge her with silly things like a party for the puppies… but I refuse to do it THREE times in the course of a month.  Soooooooo… we compromised and had one combined puppy party.

The first lesson of the day was to steer clear of a big dog with a party hat on his head.  When they’ve got a party hat on their head, they tend to shake their head, and if your face is near that… well…. you get nailed with the hat :(  Just look at that big ol scratch and that pathetic little face :(

Here is another shot of Franklin, this birthday boy is turning one… and loving his party attire.

And Adolph, who is turning 6.  He’s a PRO at this whole party thing.

Good ol Adolph… he’s such a pushover!

If you notice, there is no sign of Capstun (who is turning 2).  He took one look at party hats and said “LATER” and retreated to his kennel.  We didn’t see him again until after Emma went to bed.  What a party pooper!

At any rate….. we brought in the balloons for the celebration.  Franklin evidently does not LIKE balloons.   I do not fluently speak dog, but I’m pretty certain this translates to W.T.F.!!!!!

(nice hat you goober)

Okay!  Group photo!  Everybody say BIRTHDAY!!!!

Ahhhhh thanks for such a great party Dad.  Lemme slobber on your face summore….

So, all in all, everybody had a great time (well, I don’t know if the DOGS had a great time, but we did) and Emma was just tickled.  She summarized her feelings before going to bed.

Rock on sista….. rock on!

Random ramblings about baby thighs, baby rolls, babies

Published by Icequeen under The Offspring

I notice the older Em gets, the more I miss so many of the baby things, that I’ll never see again.  In particular, those MEATY THIGHS.  There is just something about chubby baby thighs that melts my heart.  Those rolls…. *sigh*

I just want to smoosh em….

and look at those squishy arms!!!!

And those cheeks!

And I miss her adorable cloth diapers!!!  her big ol cloth bootie…. *sigh*

and her first steps…

Most of all, I miss that GUMMY SMILE!!!

Why do they have to grow up on us?  Why can’t they stay squishy, schmooshy, roly poly babies forever!

UFC night - It’s a smackdown

Published by Icequeen under The Offspring

One of Em’s favorite treats these days is to get to “wrastle” with daddy.  She actually sees it as a reward (hey… it’s working so far, so we are rolling with it!)

Here begins the battle.   She is posed, her game face is on.

She kicks into full blown “girl power” mode, and goes for the “jumper”.  Notice the AIR under her feet.  Daddy is gonna have a belly ache!

OH NO!!!!  Daddy gets sneaky and slips in the SUPERMAN move!

But Em is sly… she’s stealth… she gets out of it and ends up in this “hanging off his back, upside down, kinda hanging on for dear life thingie” move.

And then she flips the switch, throws him down and does the DOUBLE KNEE… Oh Daddy… you are going DOWN!

And of course, Daddy sneaks in the ever dreaded ZERBIT move!!!  She’s devastated!

But in the end… Emma prevails… and Daddy ultimately TAPS OUT!  Victory EMMA!!!  GIRL POWER SISTER!!!!!!!!

You know, they say the relationship a girl has with her father directly fosters the relationships she’ll have with men as an adult.  Do you think I should send her to domestic violence counseling now? Undecided

A little play is good for the soul

Published by Icequeen under The Offspring

I’ve been laid up for so long now.  Hopefully the end is soon as I found a doctor with a brain yesterday :)  At any rate,  it was snowing here today.  REALLY snowing.  I’ve been laying in this recliner for the last month, as staying still helps the pain be less.  BUT, it was snowing.. REALLY snowing.

I looked at Emma and thought to myself  “I know this would be dumb, because I will probably hurt like crazy afterwards… but who cares!”  EM… BABY… GRAB YOUR SNOWGEAR!  We are going to PLAY!

And play we did :)

Poor Cappy, he never stood a chance.  Deep snow and miniature wiener dogs just aren’t a good combination!

HEY… BACK OFF… you JERK!

Hey…. how’d she get up there?????

Well HELLO DARLING!

mmmmmmm Kids taste GOOOOOOD!

But assassinating a cardboard box is way more fun!

But then again…. I still love to kiss her!

WWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

NOOOOOO… you do it like THIS!

Hey mom… take a picture of me screaming!

(Holy smokes… I did it!)

Now… I have to admit, I feel a TEENY, TINY bit bad for throwing this much snow on her.

I felt bad till she returned the favor!

Ahhhhh a little play is just downright good for the soul… you know?
